About Us

Broomhill Football Club was established when some players from Ahorey F C wanted to get regular football on Saturday afternoons. Eddie Pearson, or better know as Ned to everyone, was the mainstay behind the formation of this new club, with the name taken from the recently built housing estate on the main Portadown - Armagh Road. The club entered the Mid Ulster League in season 1977/98, with home matches being played at Kernan Playing Fields in Portadown.

The club has spent most of its time playing in the 3rd and 4th divisions of the Mid Ulster league, just missing out on promotion to Division 2 through a play off defeat bu Markethill Swifts in 1994. Some moderate success has come about in cup competitions, with success achieved in the Charity Cup Final in 1994, with a 3-0 defeat of Portadown Boys Brigade Old Boys. The previous season had seen the club loose the final to Seagoe (also from Portadown).

After the club was relegated to Division 4 of the Mid Ulster in 1999, it regrouped and a lot of young players were brought into the team. This proved successful, as they reached the Magee Cup Final ( the 4th Division cup) in 2000, only to be beaten in extra time by League Champions Cookstown Athletic. Season 2000/01 saw the club move to its present home ground of Richhill Playing Fields (or Village Park as sometimes known), and forge links with its main sponsors The Normandy Inn. With all the players from the local community of Broomhill/Richhill area which has proved a very successful move for the club and all concerned.

Broomhill FC is a local football team from the Broomhill estate in Co.Armagh. They where formed in 1977 by the late Eddie Pearson. He managed the team from its formation to his untimely death in 2001. Roger Young another local man took the reins and built the club into what it is today.
