WARINGSTOWN 0 BROOMHILL 4
Broomhill travelled to lurgan for this first round match against waringstown and ensured their name was in the hat for the next round. Broomhill got of to a good start when a good cross from geordie calvin was met at the back post by jonny millar to net his first goal of the season. neat work from paul lynas and jason harper allowed andy mchugh to nip in and make it 2-0 before the break. the second half began like the first had ended and another attack from broomhill led to paul lynas being brought down in the box and a penalty was rewarded. Ryan Harper stepped up and slotted home to make it 3-0. the match fizzled out and got sloppy before substitudes Ian Mullholland and David Cassells combined with the later poking home to make it 4-0 and putting Broomhill in the draw for the second round.
red star 3 broomhill 3
Broomhill travelled to league toppers red star on saturday and came away with a well earned draw and where a little disappointed that thats all they left with. broomhill took the lead in a very entertaining first half through a wonder strike from midfielder stevie hewitt. red star responded and took the lead 2-1 from two long throws which should have been defended better by broomhill. broomhill then uped their performance and got them selves back into the game through two well worked goals from Jason Harper and Andy McHugh. a great first half. the second half started slowly and both teams where matching each other when the referee gave a ridiculous decision and rewarded red star a penalty. Philip Baird made an excellent save down to his right to ensure Broomhill stayed ahead. with 10 mins to go another long throw caused problems in the broomhill box and red star finally got their equaliser. broomhill pushed hard for the winner and when andy mchugh slotted home a ryan harper through ball broomhill thought they had their winner only for the referee to rule it offside.
broomhill players and staff would like to wish Franko a "speedy" recovery from his ankle injury in training!
Moneyslane 5 - 1 Broomhill
A well worked equalising goal from broomhill finished off by Steven Hewitt was the highlight of a day that Broomhill will want to get out of their systems very quickly if they want to be in the title race come the end of the season. At half time the score was 1 - 1 and broomhill beleived that their passing game was stating to show and that they had a chance of getting something out of the tight affair. Step up the referee to ruin a game of football that could have been a good, well battled out match between two decent sides. Decisions made by the "local" referee where unbeleivable and unfortuantly Broomhill players lost their heads and the match by a scoreline that defintley flatters Moneyslane.
Broomhill 1 - 4 Scarva Rangers
Broomhill went out of the Marshall Cup last nite with a poor 4 - 1 home defeat to Scarva Rangers. Scarva went in to the halftime break 2-0 up. Broomhill came out fighting and tried to get back into the game when Andy McHugh halfed the depicit. However Scarva hit Broomhill on two quick counter attacks to end the home sides cup run for this year.
Broomhill 2-3 Glenavy
Broomhill got off to the new league season with a poor 3-2 defeat at home to Glenavy. Broomhill started lively and their efforts where rewarded with a goal 15mins in when a Jason Harper corner caused problems in the Glenavy penalty area and one of their own players put the bar in the back of his own net. Instead of Broomhill taking control of the game they let their conterparts back into the game and they scored just before halftime to make it all level going into the break! Broomhill came out for the second half knowing improvements where needed and they looked the better side at times. However a rare Glenavy attack shocked Broomhill again and poor defending led to the away side going 2-1 up. Broomhill kept going and where rewarded a penalty when Ryan Harper was brought down inside the box, Andy McHugh stepped and his well struck penalty was well saved by the Glenavy keeper. Things just wern't going for the home side.
With 15 minutes to go confusion in the away defence let Ryan Lynas slip in behind to get onto a loose ball and lob it over the outstretched keeper making it 2-2. Broomhill from here looked to be the team that would go on to win the match and a few good attacks just lacked the killing touch. An attack down the left from Broomhill was defended well by Glenavy and a long over the top ball the length of the pitch allowed a Glenavy player to latch on and put the away side 3-2 up totally against the run of play.
Overall a poor day for Broomhill but on another day could have ran out clear winners but for some poor defending refereing. They need to lift themselves quick as they travel to Scarva Rangers on Wednesday night for a Marshall Cup tie.

Broomhill finished their tough pre season with a convincing 6-2 victory over Annagh. Broomhill got off to a great start when good work on the left from Jason Harper ended up with Ryan Lynas Scoring at the back post to make it 1-0. After this broomhill seemed to stop and a combination of poor defending and good finishing allowed annagh to equalise through Woolsey. This lifted broomhill again and some neat football lead to a corner were Jason Haprer found Richard Nesbitt to restore broomhills advantage. Broomhill looked convincing from here and a good run from Ryan Harper found his brother and his cute centre was met by a powerful Andy McHugh header to make it 3-1 and 3 assists from Jason Harper. Broomhill came out of the blocks slow at the start of the second half and the match became sloppy for a ten minute period. This period was livened up when a good Geordie Calvin pass was met by a good run by Ryan Lynas who put a dangerous ball into the middle and Andy McHugh couldnt miss from close range to finish a nice broomhill move. Davy Taylor made some changes after this and while the new players found their feet annagh pulled a goal back to make it 4-2. Impact sub Paul Lynas played the best pass of the night to open up the annagh defence and put Ian Mulholland through on goal who unselfishly squared the ball for davy cassells to roll into the empty net. It was Mulholland again the orchastator for broomhills sixth when Stevie Hewitt found him inside the box and his smart back heel put Ryan Harper in the clear only to be taken down from behind by David Nesbitt which earned a penalty. Paul Lynas stepped up and put the ball luckily past the young annagh keeper who got a strong hand to it.
After a tough pre season scheldule against tougher opposition it was good for broomhill to get a win and goals under their belt going into the season opener against Glenavy on saturday.

On paper probably the toughest pre season test for broomhill. On the pitch probably the toughest pre season test for tradragee. Dispite going down 2-1 to a very good tandragee side broomhill were excellent on the night. All over the pitch the players matched tandragee and at times controlled the game Andrew McHugh should have put the 3rd division side ahead when clean through, only for a good save from the feet of Ryan McConville. A free kick on the wide left for tandragee led to their first goal. A mix up in the broomhill defence let Steven Mason head the ball back off his own player and fortunately into the broomhill goal. Broomhills players didnt drop their heads or efforts and finished the first half the stronger. The second half began the same, broomhill played some neat football in possesion and worked hard when not. A free kick awarded to broomhill on the edge of tandragees box was saved by McConville and a quuick break away made it 2-0 to tandragee totally against the run of play. In past seasons broomhill would have folded and heads dropped but this team seem to have a mental edge lacking in previous years. They kept fighting to the final whistle and were rewarded with a goal ten minutes from time through Ryan Lynas. Broomhill had the belief after this and Andy McHugh and Ryan Lynas both had chances to equalise. Paul Lynas came on for the final minutes and when the ball dropped to him just inside the penalty area a powerful shot unfortunately for broomhill cannoned back off the crossbar. The same player could also have earned his side a penalty when the ball struck Glen Uptons hand. However, tandragee held on to their one goal advantage and won the game 2-1.
Overall an excellent performance from broomhill who will take the many positives out of this game and into their final pre season friendly against Annagh United Seconds and also into the league campaign next week.

Broomhill went down to a dissapointing 4-1 defeat against a decent Seagoe side. Both teams were evenly matched throughout the first 45 minutes. Broomhill actually had more clear cut chances and could have scored had Jason Harper successfully lobbed the home side keeper. At half time Davy Taylor made a number of changes and the new players were slow to start. A dreadful ten minute period seen seagoe go 3 up. Broomhill however didnt quit and started playing better after this. Chances for Ryan Lynas and Andy Mchugh went begging before Jason Harper pulled a goal back for the away side. The match fizzled out and a late goal from seagoe added misery to a poor second half display from broomhill.
The broomhill players were obviously dissapointed with this result, however will keep their heads up knowing a tough game against Tandragee Rovers lies ahead.

Broomhill faced Laurelvale in the annual trophy and narrowly lost out. Lauralvale started the better team, as Broomhill took time too find their feet. The home side started of brightly in the opening minutes and where awarded a penalty after captain Matty Hewitt fouled a forward.they same player shaked himself of to convert the penalty. This put some life into broomhill and where unforunate when Jonny Forde and Jason Harper both went close. A good pass on the break opened up the Broomhill defence and Laurevale where awarded a free kick on the edge of the box which Lee Wortley cooly scored. Broomhill continued to push forward and their efforts where rewarded with a goal just before half time. The second half began like the first with Broomhill out of the traps again and poor defending led the home side going 3 -1 up. This clearly spurred Broomhill on and for the next 35 mins they where the only team in the game. Chances came and went and when Ryan Harper made it 3-2 the away side beleived once again they where in the match. A free kick well hit by jason Harper that the keeper could not hold on to was well followed up by Ryan Lynas and Broomhill for their efforts where deservedly back in the game. Both teams where clearly tiring but Broomhill looked the fitter and more determined side going into the final minutes.A break from Laurelvale caused problems in the Broomhill defence and a lucky deflection led to their winner.
Broomhill where understandably upset by the final result but have to take the positives out of their performance against a good Intermediate A side who where expected to win comfortably.
With the season getting closer and only two games played under the management Broomhill have to beleive that playing with the stlye and determination that they have shown that success isnt far away!
Broomhill travelled to Silverwood on thursday night for their first preseason friendly of the 09/10 season. With alot of new faces at the club the match gave Davy Taylor an oppurtunity to have a look at his squad. Broomhill got off to a nervous start and were rightly 2 goals down with only 20 minutes gone. This shook life into the broomhill players and they started to dominate the play as the first half moved on. With it looking like broomhill would go into the break 2 goals down, Paul Lynas gave them a lifeline. He produced a wonderful goal when he looked up and lobbed the silverwood keeper from 30 yards out. At half time Taylor made several changes including new signings Richard Nesbitt and Ryan Lynas. Broomhill started the better in the second half and lynas' first half goal had defintely removed broomhills first half nerves. Bar a few defensive mishaps broomhill were defintely the better side against their first division counterparts. Some neat play around the box only lacked a finish on numerous occasions but as the team play together more this will certainly come. It seemed only a matter of time before broomhill broke down the hard working defence and with 15 minutes to go Davy Cassells turned cunningly inside the right full back and drilled a powerful shot to the bottom right hand corner leaving the silverwood keeper no chance.
With so many changes made over the summer Davy Taylor and his players have to be proud of this well earned draw against a supposedly better team even though the fitness was more important. Broomhill now look forward to a busy week with a match against Laurelvale on Wednesday night and a match to be arranged for Friday.

New Season, New Start!
With Roger Young stepping down as manager after 8years in charge David Taylor has the job of taking Broomhill Football Club another step forward. Johnny Forde and Andy Forde have been given the responibility of helping Davy with training duties. Everyone in and around the club wish him all the best in his new role and understand the difficult task of managing a football club at such a tender age. The players are behind him though and promise to do all they can to ensure Broomhill can progress as a club both on and off the field and pick up a trophy as they know they can!
New influx of players but sadly some departures!
With Roger Young resigning as manager a few players have unfortuantly also decided to call it a day on their broomhill carrers. Lee Winter has left to help with the coaching at Armagh Blues and Jason Loney and Kyle McMullan have followed revealing a new challenge was needed. On the plus side the new management team have worked hard to recruit some new players to the squad list. They have also managed to keep some important players at the club who felt that maybe they to needed a new challenge. Ryan and Jason Harper have both arrived from Annagh United to help the cause along with some other excellent signing in Ryan Lynas and George Calvin. They have also got Philly Baird to put pen to paper to challenge for the number one spot. With the season drawing closer the disappointment of losing a few players has been overshadowed by capturing these new ones. With a few other players being linked with the club the team can beleive that they are not far away from being a side capable of pushing for trophies.
